Double Feature

This has been the longest week ever! Monday, I worked 6-10PM at the hospital ... Tuesday, I worked 2-10PM ... Wednesday, I worked 2-10PM! And when I say 10pm, I actually don't get off until about 10:30, so I'm home around 11PM! It makes for a very long day! Well this morning when I woke up, I realized that today was the David Noble Relays and Brian would be running in them ... and I had to work from 2-10PM (AGAIN)!! So All day, I was praying that God would give me the day off ...

I went to work at 2, clocked in ... and then walked the stairs to women's health (3rd floor). I was supposed to follow someone up there!! On the way, I met my boss ... she said how's it going, you look tired! I told her that I was exhuasted ... for a girl used to a 8-5 job, and who was always in bed and sleep by 10, the past few days have been a killer! So, she called women's health ... they were slow. So she told me that if I wanted the hours, that I could go work for a couple hours up there, but otherwise I could go home and she would not think any less of me!! I was like Thank you sooo much!! Thank You, Jesus for answered prayers!!

I went home took a 1 hour nap (soooo nice), then got ready for the track meet! I lucked out because Lance, Shanna, Hannah, Rachel and Sarah were all running at Bobcat stadium!! So, I got to watch them also!

Hannah running the 2nd leg of the sprint relay.

Hannah hands off to Shanna ...it's a mouth full!

Sarah stomped everyone at the 300 hurdles!
Lance is the 2nd to last ... the mile run!

Finishing 2nd ...

Sarah, the 1st leg of the mile relay.

Sarah handing off to !?!?

Brian ran the sprint relay at 5:10 ... and they fell in between Shanna/Hannah's 800 meter relay and Sarah's 300 m hurdles! We decided to miss that race and watch the rest of the Wall Track Meet!

After the Mile Relay, we headed over to ASU Track ... we got there around the 800 m Relay!

Brian, fixing to start the 400 m hurdles.

Brian, on his last hurdle.

He must have felt the need to impress all of his fans (there were a bunch of us) ... he placed first and beat another runner that he had never beat before!! Way to go, BRIAN!!

Brian, waiting for the handoff (last leg)!

My Bryan decided to bring boys to the track meet ... Well, actually only one came and he complained how borring it was the whole time!!

Finishing 1st for the Mile Relay!!

The Wall Clan.

Man, I come from a very talented family!! :)

Highlight of the Night:
-Sarah saw a lady walking by with a baby. She looked at me and announced, "I want one of those, and I want one now!" She has been begging for a baby from us, so that she can babysit!! heheh Someday, Sarah ... Someday!

Bar-B-Que with the Neal's

Leaky, Texas just happens to be about 45 minutes away from Kerrville, Texas. So around 5PM on Saturday we headed to K-ville for some Family. Mary was working the coffee shop at the church that night, so we decided to attend church saturday night and have all day sunday for visiting! We got to their house ... showered, changed and left for mamacita's. I love going there ... I love their green sauce and fajitas! Yum YUM! Then we went to church! Bryan and I were a little tired for driving, sitting in the sun ... actually we were exhausted.

Sunday Morning, a cute little visitor woke us up!

Bryan and Emery ... She loves him. I think she feels comfortable with him because he looks so much like her dad.

Chewing on everything in site ...
Bryan's cousin was playing baseball in town ... so Bryan, Roy and I went to watch him and his teammates slaughter Wall. Yes, they were playing my home team ...

Ryan cooked WONDERFUL Ribs at his house for us. They were really good, Ryan!!

Then we spent the afternoon hanging out together! It was fun.

Loving on her octopus ...
Again with her Uncle Bryan ...

Sweet Face ...

She almost feel asleep in his arms. She was playing, then laid her head down and her eyes got so heavy ... So Sweet!!

We headed home around 5PM, so that we got home at a decent time.

HOF Family Camp 2009

Saturday Morning around 10AM, we left for Leaky, Texas ... aka HEB Camp. Bryan was going to lifeguard for Family Camp again.

Driving thru the river to get to the camp ...
blurry, but it's the only one I got like it.

The Hottest Lifeguard ...

Alfonzo, the crazy one jumping off the rock ...

It was HOT ...
perfect day for swimming in the frio river!

Cool shot of the Place ...

Carlos found a not-so-relaxing slide ...

The Lifeguard took a few seconds to pose for a picture with me. That was so nice of him!

Jumping in to cool off ...

Lifeguard on Duty ...

Obviously working hard ... we were waiting on Jimmy and his boys to get back from their canoe ride!

One more pic.

Also, Happy Birthday to my MEMA Miller today!!

My mind was all messed up ...

Yesterday, after work, Bryan and I met one of the cottage parents at my cousins house to look at one of the puppies. I can not believe it ... but I didn't take any pictures of the roly polies!! Oh but they were sooo cute!! Mini weiney dogs!

Afterwards, we fought the wind and cold and watched Lance, Shanna and Hannah run at the Cotton Patch Relays! They all did great ... I love supporting such talent! :)

So all day Thursday, I had in my head that I was working 2-10PM ... I was not excited about that shift, that's too late to start and WAY to late to get off! So I got home from the track meet around 10PM, check my shedule (just to make sure) and it said that I was working a 6-6PM shift! That was a bummer.

When I got to work this morning, I was so frustrated ... until I was told that I was going upstairs to Women's Health (the women who just had babies, or had girly surgeries) because we only had 3 patients in the pedi. Yeah!! I got to see a bunch of cute babies! Then around 1, one of the nurses at pedi called me to come back. We were having a 12 year old boy come in with attempted sucide. A nurse has to be a "sitter" at all times ... so from 2-7, I sat in the room with him. Luckily, I had a book in my purse. I can definitely say that this was my least favorite part of my job ever.

April Fools

This morning, I was taking the morning to just sleep in relax, get caught up around the house, etc. Well, Bryan called me at 7:40AM, asked if I could bring that red fuel can in the carport to him. I was like WHAT? He said that he hadn't driven his van much, and had not realized how low he was. I was like no, I'm sleeping in ... I'll be there in an hour or so. He was like no, I'm serious. So I hung up the phone, started to get dressed ... and he called back. I was hoping that another ranch van and seen him and stopped. I answered the phone ... he said "April Fools."

Why am I so gullible?

Ranch Ball & Kairos Weekend

On Friday, I worked 2-6P at the hospital (and when I say 6P, I mean whenever we are caught up and I can get out of ther). We were going to the Ranch Ball at the convention center, so Bryan picked me up at 7 and had my clothes ready to go. We had a great dinner, enjoyed the company and entertainment. But by 9PM, I was exhausted ... not to mention I had to be a 6A-6P shift the following morning. So I went home, and Bryan got a ride with our neighbors ... he came in about 1AM. So glad, I decided to put myself to bed at a decent time.

Saturday at the hospital was a normal day ... the morning shifts go by fast. Around 2, I start dragging. We spent the evening in and it was sooo nice.

Sunday, we met up at CCSA to get a ride to Snyder for the closing of Kairos. My dad was the director this year, and mom and jill also attended! The Closing was wonderful ... Dad did a great job. In case you haven't hear of Kairos... it's a prison ministry. They spend a four day weekend with 40 chosen guys. I loved hearing their testimonies on Sunday! God is Good!!

Another Trip to the VET.

We got Cash in July, so giving her 6 months to mature ... I planned on having her spayed in January. Well January came and went ... and I just kept telling myself it was time, but I never made an appointment!

So it was then end of February, that Cash started actually "weird". I was so mad at myself. We tried to keep her inside the house, but she would run out of the house as soon as we opened the door ... then wouldn't see her until the next day. So I called the VET, and the next available day for spay was April 26th. I told them our situation about her actually her being in heat, and they said if she is preggo, then there will be an extra charge to take care of that! I just prayed that she wouldn't get preggo.

So Bryan took her in this morning because I had to be at the hospital at 6:15AM, and the earliest they would take her was 7:30.

After work, I went to pick her up ... she was fine and dandy.
Just relaxing at home ...
Bevo, checking her out ...

Curled up in a little ball, and totally out.

Her pain definitely worked.

A Present to Ourselves.

With our tax return this year, we decided it was time to get a grill guard for my car!

Of course, the cheap ones are just made to protect your car from brush, etc. They said they will bend just like your bumper if a deer hit it. So since, we were needing it for all the deer we see, we went with the heavy duty one. It's very nice looking, and we are pleased with it so far!

Hoping I never have to use it ...

A track meet and a play ...

Today was IC's high school track meet! It was beautiful weather, and a great track meet.

The track meet ended at 7:50PM ... so we drove a couple blocks over to go watch the One Act Play (their one public performance) at 8PM! One of the boys from the Ranch was in it. It was wonderful!!

The Cast ...

A Quick Trip

On Saturday night, we drove to Round Rock for a very quick trip! We stayed the night at Bryan's sister's house!

On Sunday morning, we woke up and drove to Seaton, TX ... about 5 minutes outside of Temple. Jill just happen to be speaking less than an hour away from us, so we decide to go see her! She spoke at Seaton Brethren Church about her mission work over the previous year! It was very good!

After that, we drove back into RR and had lunch at Salt Licks with his family! I finally got to meet a little girl, Miss Abby Lu!! :)
Bryan and Abby Lu

Not excited about the picture ...
but looking so cute in their ladybugs!!

Kyleigh holding Abby Lu, Landry and Bella ...

B-e-a-utiful baby girl!

Pretty Family - The Jenkins!

Then we did a little shopping at the outlet mall there! Bryan found some saled polo shirts/boxers ... and I got a couple more scrubs!!

We met Roy and Mary in Burnet (who were out riding their motorcycle) for some ice cream and sodas!! We made it home around 9pm ... just in time for me to go to bed!!

First Day on the New Job

Friday the 13th, my alarm went off at 4:15am ... I showered and got ready for my first day at the hospital!!

Don't Judge - This picture was taken at around 5:15am ... the hubby picked out this scrub in the store and told me to wear it my first day!!

Now, in orientation ... they tell you to be there, clocked in and ready to go 15 minutes before your shift actually starts. So since mine started at 6, I was there around 5:40am! I get clocked in, walk to the front desk ... and she asks what are you doing here so early? I thought to my self man I really have no idea!! She said shift change is at 6:15 ... so I was there an extra 30 minutes more than I had to! Bummer!! That bit me in the butt later in the day!!

I followed around another Nursing Assistant (Bryan calls me a "Nurse's Ass"!) We did routine vitals, physician's orders, admits, discharges ... and many more things!! It was so tiring! Well, finally 6 came along ... then it was gone, and I was still there!! 7 came along, and yet I was still there! I left around 7:30 (13 hours 45 minutes later)! Even though our schedule says it ends at 6, that's not true! That's at shift change, so the head nurses have to report about all the patients to the new nurses ... and since the new nurses are in the break room, they can't be manning the front desk and taking care of stuff! So that's why we have to stick around longer!!

I was so happy to get home! I propped my feet up, had leftovers in bed (prepared by my wonderful husband) and watched a couple episodes of FRIENDS!!! Later, I even got a foot massage!

All in all, it was not a bad day ... we started out with 11 kids, and sent 4 home! That's my favorite part of the job: when they discharge a kid! Makes me sooo happy!!

A Day OFF ...

Today, I had the day off ... so Bryan took the day off also! We started off with taking Violet to the vet for her rabies, parvo and rattlesnake shots ... she was NOT happy by the time we left!

Then we went into town for some shopping! Scrubs are expensive ... that's all I have to say about that!! Lunch at Bonsai Garden was excellant! Then, I went and chopped off my hair ... I needed something a little easier and faster for my 6 am shifts at the hospital!!

I pleased ... spoiled my be a better word ... my hubby by playing golf with him! I do not care for golf, but Bryan loves it .... and is always wanting us to play together!! So, we decided that thursday afternoon on our day off would be perfect!!

First Drive of the day ...
(besides the driving range)

The last time we took a picture like this was on our honeymoon ... i'm sure it will be 2 years or longer before we get another!!
The "6" was my favorite club ...

Obviously posing ... I should have hit the ball then get in position!!!
Hole 1-9 were OK to me ... I had some really good shots, and lost no balls (besides the 3 that went in the lake; I knew where they were, just couldn't go get them!)

Funny Story: I was about 10 feet from water, and I had to hit the ball about 35-40 feet to get it over the lake, onto the green! The first one skipped straight into the water; the 2nd made it a little farther, but still didn't make it! (Sidenote: i can't tell the difference in any of the golf balls, but by how good my shots are, is how I decide which ones I like the best.) Well, my first 2 in the water were nike and some other crappy ball we found in the bushes! Well, Bryan comes up ... takes my best ball (Bridgestone) and was going to show me how to hit it! I'm sure you can all guess what happened! YUP, straight in the water ... I was so mad! I took HIS best golf ball, swung as hard as I could ... it cleared the water ... and the green ... and the tee off on the other side!! So, it went a little farther than I wanted ... but at least I cleared the water!! So, then I shot from the other side of the green ... I did not realize how slanted the green was! My (well bryan's golfball) rolled and rolled and rolled and rolled and then rolled past the green, into the water!! Whoops!!

There was water on Bryan's seat ... I was made about hole 10! I said Bryan, there's water in your seat. He said what? I said nothing. I thought it was funny ... he did not!!

Nice form, huh?

I'm pretty sure this was right before I threw the club and quit ...

Hole 10-11 were not good at all!! I went down hill! Basically gave up, and said I'm done!! Luckily, Bryan got frustrated with the people in front of us ... he saw them pick up TWO of his golf balls and then tell us that they have not seen any!! He was sooo mad!! SO, I convinced him it was time to go!!

One more picture of us ...

We made our way around, and he decided to play hole 18!

Last putt of the day ...

I had a WONDERFUL DAY with my Hubby!!
I had a couple good, surprising shots!
It was a nice, relaxing day before the crazy day ahead of me!!

Orientation

Monday: At 8:30am, I had to go get another TB shot. Then at 9am, we had hospital orientation at the Human Resources office! We watched a 2 1/2 hour long movie about the hospital manual. The Bad News: It was incredible borring, but I guess necessary. The Good News: That was all we had to do for the day!! We were gone by 11:30!! Yeah!

Tuesday: We met at the Education building (behind the hospital) at 8:30am! Today was really hard, very overwhelming! I felt so dumb! Everyone around was either certified or was in school to be a nurse ... and here I was, no nursing skills at all!! By the time 5:30 came around, I was more than ready to go home!

Wednesday: A better day! Today, we did a lot of procedures that I would be doing in the hospital! for example: taking vital signs every 4 hours, taking out iv and foley cathedars, etc. I came home wednesday later afternoon a little more excited about the job!! I also got my schedule ... first day to work: Friday, 6am- 6pm!
