Our 1st Project Together - Day 4

Saturday afternoon, we got a lot of work done!

Measuring the inside to make sure everything would work!!

1st Injury for Me:
I was playing with the tape measure, and I pushed the button for it to slide in ...
it came in really fast and busted me on the knuckle!

Hammering the border pieces ...

2nd Injury for Me :
nail sticking up out of board that I was holding ...
took a chunk of skin out!

Filling in the holes ...
(yes, I know I look bad)

Just a cool shot ...

Cutting the hardibacker ...
Not fun!

Bryan told me that there is a cancer warning on the back of hardibacker ...
and, of course, our monkey masks were at home!!

Gluing the hardibacker board to the table using liquid nails!

3rd Injury for me ...
the hardibacker board fell from table, and i caught it with my finger!
(it sure doesn't look back in the picture, but it hurt like crap when it happened!)

The table after Day 4 ...

This is Bryan's injury of the day!! hehe

Day 4 was filled with blood, arguing, measuring and remeasuring to make sure it's going to fit, and finally a table that can be worked on at our house!!
When I say day 4 ... it's not exactly true! Bryan went in a couple times, and would put another layer of stain on the table! I have not considered those days!

More to come soon ...

Our 1st Project Together - Day 3

The weather we have been having is not ideal for drying stuff! We put a coat of stain, and then wait 4-6 hours, and it is still wet in places!

And I know you might be wondering why we stained just the legs ... for us, it's just seems easier! We are able to be at normal height, not sitting on the ground, and it's up on a table, so it can't accidently get kicked or anything! It is all definitely a learning process ...

On Day 3, Bryan went in the morning and gave it one last layer of stain! Then that evening we put a thin coat of sealer! It makes it shiny looking!

Ohhh Pretty!
Hoping that a blow dryer would help ... so that we could continue working!

It wasn't doing anything!
3 Days working on the project ...
and we still Love each other!! Yes!

Hopefully this is not the end ...
and there is more to come!! hehe

Our 1st Project Together - Day 2

Day 2:
We put more of our outside wood on (I don't know what to call it ... it's the wood that you will see, the stained wood)!!

Bryan wearing a monkey mask and using the sander!

In our Monkey Masks ...
Putting in the finished nails ...

A gummy worm in his mouth, and pencil in his hat and a hammer in his hand ... I think this boy is happy!!

Violet, staying warm in her blanket!

On the wood that we are staining, you punch in all the nails, and then take a "wood filler" and fill in the holes! Bryan is sanding down all the wood here, before we stain it!

Conditioning the wood ...
Before we stained it!

Staining it ...
was a messy job!!

All 4 legs stained with the first coat ...

It's moving along!!

Our 1st Project Together - Day 1

For as long as I have known Bryan, he has talked about making a table! When the subject comes up, I always asks, "What's stopping you?" He never has a good excuse!
Well yesterday after lunch, we wanted to do something, and the table came up!! So we went to Home Depot, and started buying what we needed!!

Our Plans!

Those squares on top of the table are pieces of tile! We laid out 6 of them and decided that it was too small ...

So then we remeasured everything for 8 tiles!

Sawdust flying ...
as Bryan makes the first cut!

4 legs ...

Screwing the supports in!

Sitting in Daddy's Spot!

We worked until 2 AM, early Sunday Morning! More to come!!
