Sidnee Layne

I have decided that I am going to use "Five Fav Friday" when I haven't posted much during the week! When I post something almost every day, it's kind of hard to come up with five things (without repeating myself)!

So Last week, Joanna called me and asked me to keep Sidnee over the weekend ... of course, I said YES! I picked her up on Sunday morning, and we had a blast with her all day! She just turned 5 months old, and is one of the strongest babies I've ever seen! She will be laying on the ground playing, then she will lift her head like a crunch ... it's so funny!

Sidnee in her Sunday Outfit!

Bryan and Sidnee are good friends.

Love that Smile!!

I am happy to announce that Jordan and Joanna have moved a huge truck load into their house in San Angelo! I am so excited that they have moved back!!

Nintendo Wii

If you haven't heard how cool Bryan's job is, this is the perfect example! A couple weeks ago, Bryan's boss asked him to find a TV and wii for the gym! So, let's add to his list of job description:

  1. Watch Or Play Basketball with Boys
  2. Watch and/or Work out with Boys
  3. Take Boys to Movies
  4. Take Boys to Colts/Stampede Games
  5. Break up Fights
  6. Eat Supper at Cottages
  7. Be the Lifeguard / Swim in Pool
  8. Live on the Ranch
  9. Watch OR Play wii with the boys

Sure this isn't everything ... but it's about 90% of his job!

Moving on, Bryan and I have both become exciting about this wii thing! and Even more excited about Mario Cart! Well apparently, everyone is excited and buying ... so we are having to wait patiently for more to come in! Bryan and I both had yesterday afternoon off, so we decided to borrow my cousin's wii and have a Mario Cart Party!! We invited Jill and Liz over for some supper and racing!

Mario Cart lives up to it's name ... It was sooo fun! Any guesses on what I will be doing when I get off work!? Anywaz, we had four wheels, so all 4 of us could race against each other ... I'm sure that was a site to see! Too bad I didn't video tape us ... I'm sure I could have sent it into AFV (America's Funniest Videos)!

Pretty soon, our thumbs were tired from holding down the number 2 button (which was the gas) ... so we moved onto baseball, bowling and tennis! About this time, Bryan's parents showed up (they are vacationing in Montana for the next 2 weeks ... they were driving through and spent the night) ... I am sure they enjoyed laughing at us!

For those of you who don't know wii, it's a very interactive system! For the sports, you actually swing the remote like a baseball bat/tennis racket ... or roll a bowling ball! It was during tennis, that things got a little dangerous! Picture this: 4 people swinging remotes, 2 adults watching, and laughing, 2 dogs wandering around, and a small living room! Well, someone was bound to get hit and I'm happy to say that it was not a girl ... or a dog ... or a parent! Yes, this leaves the one and only husband of mine! Bryan and I were on a team, and I was in a zone ... swinging at every ball passing my way! Then I hear a "THUMP" ... for some reason this "thump" was so funny, that all I could do was laugh ... one of those silent laughs ... tears began to fall! I look at Liz, and she is curled up on the couch laughing just as hard! Jill is the last person to figure out what happened ... "Did you hit Bryan with the remote?" All I can get out is a small nod! Poor Bryan ... I felt sooo bad! He was a trooper and finished out the game! Since it was the only game we lost on tennis, I took full blame!

Warning: If playing wii, Spread Out!

Landry and Bella

In all this Emery talk, I wanted to take the time to talk about my Landry and Bella! When Bryan and I first started dating, Landry was about 9 months old ... she wasn't really a shy girl, but she usually stuck to her parents or grandparents! Before I knew it, we were good friends ... and about this time Bryan and I were engaged, so I officially became "Aunt Susan."

<A Rambling: It's seems that in the last couple of years, I have really become adult! I graduated college ... I became someone's wife ... in addition, I became an aunt! In the next couple of years, I hope to become a mom ... Look at me, all grown up! And it happened just like that!>

Bella was born a couple weeks before Bryan and I got engaged ... so I have got to see this little doll grow into a sweet little girl! She has had her moments ... and by moments, I actually mean weekends! One weekend that we were all in Kerrville, she screamed every time she was near me ... and not a I'm-so-excited-to-be-near-you scream ... it was a bloody-murder scream! It was actually quite comical! Somewhere around Christmas, she figured out that it was ok to hang out with people other than her parents/g-parents!! And just this past weekend, I am now "Sue-Sue"!!

I love hanging out with these girls! I love stealing Mimi's kisses ... and getting bear hugs! I love singing Christian songs with them! I love playing whatever they want ... whether it's running through the sprinkler or ring around the rosie until I'm sick of spinning! I love spoiling them! And Bryan can't be left out of this ... because he loves these girls as much as I do!

I could go on and on about these girls!
(if you couldn't tell that already)

I can't wait until Emery gets to this age ... Three Beautiful Nieces to love on!! :)

More Baby Emery Pictures/Stories

Ryan, Marissa and Baby Emery were able to come home on Tuesday afternoon, so we were able to see them again before we went home that evening (or actually that night)! She is a precious baby!

Granny and Emery.

Landry seeing Baby Emery for the first time!

Landry told Marissa, "Thank you for taking such
good care of her while she was in your belly!"
She is one smart cookie!! :)

Pretty in Pink.

Checking out Emery's "Hook-Em" socks (UT)!

All smiles as Landry holds her cousin!

Bella didn't care that much to hold Emery!

I love the age difference in this picture!

She loves her Aunt Susan!

Babies and I are like a magnet ... if there is one in the room, I am probably holding it! I am not afraid to say, "I want to hold her next" ... but you usually have to say, "Can I hold her?" to me or I will never give her up!! On Tuesday, I waited patiently for everyone to have a turn ... so that I could have a long turn! Well when I finally got Emery, Landry decided it was her turn again! Well, I reasoned with an almost three year old and explained to her that we have to leave tonight and I won't get to see Emery for awhile and that I want to hold her alot! So, the deal was that when I left, she could hold Emery again! Well, a little bit later, she started giving everyone kisses! She announced that she didn't have to go (because she usually goes around and kisses everyone before they have to leave)! Then she walked up to me ... in her little smartie-pants ... and said, "Do you have to go?!" She was ready to hold the baby again!

So, Landry climbed in my lap, too ... and I told her that she should sing to baby Emery! We were trying to figure out a song ... and someone said how about Jesus Loves Me! She started to sing ... and I told Ryan that we better get the camcorder out for this! So we got it set up, and Landry started over! She sang the whole song real soft to her ... and rubbed her head as she sang! It was so sweet! That video will be a keeper! (Jill- Landry whispered great things about Jesus into Emery's ears just like you did while you were gone!!)

Man, he looks good with a baby in his arms!

Landry's third birthday is coming up, August 19th! Her party will probably be the next time we see this baby! Hopefully pictures will be coming our way in between this time!

She is HERE!

Yes, Emery Joy did decided to come on her own time! She was born Monday, July 14th @ 12:56PM! She weighted in at 7 lbs, 6 ozs ... and was 20 1/2 inches long! Beautiful little baby!
(I planned on posting this little information at the hospital ... but they had banned blogstpot.com)

Some of us fell asleep waiting on this baby to come!!

Bryan and I ...
soon to be an Aunt/Uncle AGAIN!!

Funny Story: While we were waiting for Emery to arrive, Bryan was playing on our computer in the waiting room! A lady came in, who knew Ryan should be having a baby any minute, asked Bryan, "Aren't you going to go in there? I thought the baby was fixing to be here!" Bryan was like, "No, that's my brother!" She was like, "They are twins?"

Ryan, the New Daddy and Bryan!

"Her name is Ba-By Em-er-y" ...
as said by Landry!

No Baby Yet ...

Tyring to plan around a baby being born is crazy! Our plans were to go down there thursday evening, in hope that Emery would decide to make her grand entrance before Sunday! Well her dr. says he doesn't think she will come before Monday! So changing plans again ... but I don't know what we are doing, except waiting on a call!

Ryan, Marissa & Baby Emery-

We are praying for you all right now!! :)

A Weekend Full of Fun

WARNING: Long post full of pictures ahead!!

Bryan and I both had a three-day weekend! We started it off on Thursday by celebrating Charlotte's b-day over supper and firecrackers! I am not much of a firecracker person ... they scare me! Well, Bryan handed me a "Morning Glory" (which he says is one of the safest)! I am sitting in my chair, twirling it around .... when a piece of it came off and fell in my sandal (between my foot and the shoe)!! I drop the firecracker, and start kicking my foot ... seriously, sparks are flying from my sandal! Not Cool! Now, I am really done with all firecrackers! So, I didn't get burned or anything ... but it scared me!

Here's the group having fun with roman candles ...
Charlotte's in the grey shirt!

He looks like a little kid ...

The Sparkler...
another "safe firecracker"!

On Friday (July 4th), We went out to Veribest Park ... a Holik Family Tradition! Every year, we go for bar-b-que, games and fellowship! Lots of fun!

This was the only picture taken at the Park!

Paul-Ann started a tradition last year ... Freedom Fest! It's held at the Colt's Stadium! This year included: an Ornan's Floor concert, the Impact Team, some giveaways, and the coolest firework light show ever! The Ornan's Floor concert was loud, but really good! Bryan and I both love all of their songs! The Impact Team was amazing! They broke a whole lot of stuff, and gave all the glory to God! The Firework show ... a wonderful 10 minutes of OOOOO's and AHHHHH's!

This guy broke all of those bricks in half!

Dad & Mom ... enjoying the Impact Team!

Little Miss Cranky ...

Our week day mornings usually begin the same way! Bevo is the first up around 6AM ... he flaps his ears back and forth to let us know that he is ready to go outside! I'm next up around 6:30AM (or at least that's what time my alarm goes off)! Bryan and Violet don't get up out of bed until 7:40 ... when I leave for work! Violet uses the bathroom in the front yard, and Bryan waves at the door as I drive off to work! Yesterday, things didn't go quite like that ...

Instead of Violet running back in the house, I called her to get in the car with me. I didn't tell her we were going to the Vet's office to get her spayed ... I just petted her all the way into town! At the Vet's office, she just sat there while I filled out her paper's ... such a good girl! I handed her to the lady, then turned around to walk out the door. At the door, I turn and Violet is looking at me like where are you going ... don't forget me!

Luckily, the day went by very fast ... and before I knew it, I was going to go pick her up! Everybody and their dog was there ... seriously! So finally, I was next. The receptionist told her assistant to go get Violet! And there she was ... she handed her to me, and she was shaking so bad! We went home and stayed cool!

Violet, taking it easy on the couch!

I don't think he was getting enough attention ...
so, he decided to sleep in Violet's bed!

This is the picture of the year ...
Violet was .. how do I put this nicely .. cranky, yes that's a nice word!
(yes, she was growling at him!)

Not Your Ordinary Baseball Game ...

People are always donating tickets to the Boys Ranch. Last night, we attended the San Angelo Colts game because it would be free (and Free is Good!!) ... and it's baseball! As we are walking up to the stadium, Bryan hears them talking about a "Diamond Dig" over the intercom. I honestly thought nothing of it.

It was about the 3rd inning when the announcer told us more ... "If you are a lady who is 18 years or older, then you are eligible for the Diamond Dig." I looked at Bryan and said, "Hey, that's me!" "Joe, the ground's keeper buried a diamond necklace (4 heart shaped diamonds put together to look like a 4-leaf clover ... total weight= 1 carat) from Legend Jewelers in the infield, and you have to find it" continued the announcer! Ok, so this is all he tells us at the time ... but I am thinking, "Yeah, this could be fun ... and what if I found it." Beginning of the 4th, he tells us more, "You will be able to use one tool, and one tool only ... a tongue depressor (a.k.a. popsicle stick)!" By this point, I am now talking myself out of doing it!

So, Bryan decides to take the boys home and then come back ... but he made me stay there, just in case he didn't make it back in time! I was preoccupied by 2 babies ... one little girl, 10 months old, had already mastered walking ... and the 8 month old chatterbox with his big brown eyes was cute as can be!

Top of the 9th Inning, Bryan and I go and sit by the dugout ... Not long after that, women start lining up, so that they can be the first on the field! I got in line with the rest of the crazy women, and waited not so patiently for the last out of the inning! Finally, the game was over ... players, coaches, bat boys were clearing off the field ... and women with A popsicle stick in hand were lining up along the base lines! I put the "a" in bold letters because they came by and checked to make sure we had ONE and only ONE before they said go! We were told that we were looking for a white jewelry box!

I wish someone would have videotaped it! I can just imagine in my head how funny we looked ... about 200 women, young and old, digging in very hard dirt with a not very strong tool! Some women looked to their men for advice ... some broke their sticks in half so that they could dig twice as fast!!! Me? I picked a spot behind 1st and 2nd base, sat in the dirt like I was 5 years old, and just started digging! After about 5 minutes, he gave us a hint that it was between 2nd and 3rd ... Man, all my hard work and I wasn't even close! So now picture those 200 women crowding into an even smaller area ... hehe! I picked one of the very few small areas left ... and began to "dig" (I wasn't really digging ... it was more of a scratch of the surface)!

A lady, only a few feet away from me, finally found the box! She took it to the announcer ... only to find out she was younger than 18! Yea, I am pretty sure he made it clear that only ladies 18 and up are eligible ... but maybe she thought she was an exception! So, they are trying to figure out how to handle this ... obviously they can't give it to her, they can't hand to the person closest ... oh I know, why don't I throw it over my shoulders like a bouquet at a wedding! haha So, yes this is what they do! I just laughed ... and watched from the sideline as two ladies fought on the ground for this box!

Now, I can officially say, "I have dug for diamonds."
